Course Description:
The program will contrast and compare the art and science of 5 techniques for anesthetizing the pediatric patient in an office-based setting. The peculiarities of the pediatric airway will be addressed.
Course Objectives:
• Describe the decision making process for choosing adult techniques when anesthetizing a child
• Discuss advantages and disadvantages of inhalation, intramuscular and oral induction techniques
• Describe the management of laryngospasm with and without an IV in place
• List the advantages and drawbacks of ketamine and midazolam.
