Target Audience:Plastic surgeons, otolaryngologists and maxillofacial surgeons in the practice of facial reconstruction. Course Description:Craniofacial distraction osteogenesis was first implemented 30 years ago in New York University's Department of Plastic Surgery. Since that time this technique has become a standard intervention to skeletal reconstruction which continues to evolve and find itself in the armamentarium used to treat some of the most challenging skeletal deformities treated by craniofacial surgeons. This two-day course will review all cardinal procedures and innovations in craniofacial distraction. This will include bony lengthening of the mandible, maxilla, midface/orbits and cranium as applied to the following conditions: Pierre Robin sequence, cleft lip and palate, craniofacial microsomia, Treacher Collins syndrome, non-syndromic craniosynostosis and syndromic craniosynostosis. This live activity will feature the international leaders of craniofacial distraction who will present, compare and contrast the state of the art techniques of the field. The course format will emphasize indications, alternative and long-term outcomes, encouraging active discussion by the faculty and participants. There is no course that offers the full complement of surgical procedures, state of the art techniques, and the latest innovations in craniofacial distraction featured in this program. Educational Objectives:After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:• Identify the indications for different surgical interventions for jaw and midface reconstruction for a patient affected by Treacher Collins syndrome• Identify the indications for different surgical interventions for the lower jaw in patients affected by craniofacial microsomia• Describe the long term effects of midface distraction in patients affected by syndromic craniosynostosis Note: After 12 pm on June 2, 2021, only onsite registration is available, provided the course has not reached capacity.
