Goal and Learning Outcomes:
The goal of this course is to increase the knowledge and awareness of health educators, radiologic technologists, respiratory therapists, and emergency medical services professionals regarding the increasing number of chronic conditions treated in the ED and their impact on the healthcare system and delivery.

• Identify the common chronic physical and mental health conditions for which patients seek care in the ED.
• Determine the financial impact of patients seeking chronic care in the ED and measures to mitigate it.
• Define how chronic care in the emergency setting differs from that in traditional primary care settings.
