6th Annual Keys to Cardiac Imaging
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course will explore basic and cutting-edge imaging techniques to improve patient care and hone individual skills in performance and interpretation of echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac computed tomography, and cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging. Days will reinforce how cardiovascular imaging may improve comprehension in ischemic heart disease, structural heart disease, cardiomyopathies, and heart failure. Experts will utilize novel techniques to reinforce key topics including taped interventional cases and a strong emphasis on case presentations.
SPECIAL SESSIONS: Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS)
This special session for the physician, trainee, or advanced practice provider hoping to obtain a fundamental understanding of echocardiography and implement the principles at the bedside. Participants will have an opportunity to hone their skills in a small group setting utilizing simulated patient volunteers and simulation equipment. Space is limited for hands on session.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- develop skills in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac computed tomography, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging;
- utilize cutting-edge techniques for advanced imaging for heart failure, valve disease, and ischemic heart disease;
- describe diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills in the care of cardiovascular patients using multimodality cardiac imaging;
- identify appropriate use of imaging indications, contraindications, and rationale for testing; and,
- review current strategies in assessment and management of patients with heart failure, pericardial diseases, aortic disorders, and adult congenital heart disease.
Attendance at any Mayo Clinic course does not indicate or guarantee competence or proficiency in the skills, knowledge or performance of any care of procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course.
