Medical Education
A leader in the biomedical revolution, Stanford Medicine has a long tradition of leadership in pioneering research, creative teaching protocols, and effective clinical therapies.
Our close proximity to the resources of the university — including the Schools of Business, Law, Humanities, and Sciences, and Engineering, our seamless relationship with our affiliated adult and children’s hospitals, and our ongoing associations with the entrepreneurial endeavors of Silicon Valley, make us uniquely positioned to accelerate the pace at which new knowledge is translated into tangible health benefits.
Our unrivaled atmosphere of interdisciplinary exploration and collaboration has produced many of the innovations that sparked a biomedical revolution: MRIs, gene splicing, and stem cell medicine were all born on the Stanford Medicine campus. Today, that same atmosphere, amplified by the astounding intellectual and technological capital that surrounds us in Silicon Valley, gives us an unprecedented opportunity to advance human health.
Precision Health reimagines medicine to focus on predicting, preventing, and curing disease precisely. Marrying two seemingly different approaches — high-tech and high-touch — this Stanford Medicine vision tailors health care to the unique biology and life circumstances of each individual, with an emphasis on catching the disease before it strikes. Precision Health represents a fundamental shift to more proactive and personalized care that empowers people to lead healthy lives.
While relatively small on a physical scale, our impact on human health is immense. Stanford Medicine comprises three organizations:
1-Stanford School of Medicine: A research-intensive medical school that promotes diversity and empowers future leaders with the skills they need to be adaptable and resourceful. The School of Medicine improves health through leadership, diversity, and collaborative discoveries and innovation in health care, education, and research.
2-Stanford Health Care: Consistently ranked among the top hospitals in the nation for innovative programs in cancer treatment, cardiac care, neurology, orthopedic surgery, and organ transplantation
3-Stanford Children's Health: Internationally recognized for advancing family-centered care of children, adolescents, and expectant mothers
