In 2010, the 1st international conference on BPD was organized in Berlin. This congress was very successful with more than 1,600 participants. As a result of this, the ESSPD decided in Berlin to continue the congress concept and the Dutch group volunteered to organize the next BPD conference in Amsterdam 2012. A biannual tradition evolved and the next ESSPD conferences took place in Rome, Vienna, Sitges, and as we hope in Antwerp in 2022, after 2020 had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
