In this webinar, we will review the updated KDOQI guidelines and how the renal diet has changed and evolved in recent years. We will look at current trends within the renal diet and potential benefits for clients. This includes both dietary and counseling trends. We will discuss ways to modify the diet to promote adherence and optimal nutrition. This is a great opportunity if you work in a hospital or nursing home setting with patients with CKD or food service if you work in an outpatient setting, or if you anticipate working with patients with kidney disease.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
- Understand the current dietary recommendations for kidney disease.
- Discuss the benefits of consuming optimal protein intake from both plant-based sources and animal sources and how to have a variety.
- Gain competence in modifying the diet and individualizing the renal diet to promote optimal nutrition and patient adherence.
- Counseling techniques to help patients reach their goals within this population.
- Find resources for meal planning.
