Pediatric Mental Wellbeing & The Umbrella Project

Pediatric Mental Wellbeing & The Umbrella Project is organized by Collaborative Education (CE).
Description:
Well-being is a skill, in fact, we now recognize it is a collection of skills that can be taught to children and adults alike. It isn’t just autonomy, grit, or mindfulness, each skill forms a piece of an umbrella of wellbeing that protects us from the rain of life, helps us find meaning in our experiences, and is highly predictive of future success. Anxiety, depression, and suicide risk are on the rise for our youth. As Naturopathic Doctors, we play a special role in the prevention and treatment of pediatric mental health concerns, and the umbrella effect provides a powerful framework in helping us bring mental well-being to some of our youngest patients.
Learning Objectives:
• Identify the research-based coping skills that are most effective in improving patient wellbeing and treatment outcomes.
• Understand how to identify these coping skills in clinical practice in order to guide treatment.
• Learn practice-based strategies to build these coping skills in our patients.
Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
