Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound Guided Injection 3 Days Course is organized by Australian Institute of Ultrasound (AIU) and will be held from Apr 26 - 28, 2023 at Australian Institute of Ultrasound, Gold coast, Queensland, Australia.,Course Highlights:,• Upper limb ultrasound,•Lower limb ultrasound,Description:,Injection therapy is an important adjunct in the diagnosis and management of patients with musculoskeletal conditions. An ultrasound-guided injection provides more accuracy and therefore more efficacy and cost-effectiveness compared to landmark-guided injections.,This course is aimed at doctors with a background in Sports Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, Pain Management, Rheumatology, Orthopaedics, and General Practice, as well as Allied Health Professionals who are seeking to understand and integrate ultrasound-guided injections into the diagnosis and management of common upper and lower limb pathologies.,The course combines didactic presentations, demonstrations by experts, practical scanning of real patient models, and injection techniques on phantoms.,Course Objectives:,• Develop the practical skills to recognize normal musculoskeletal sono-anatomy of the upper and lower limbs relevant to ultrasound-guided injections including Shoulder, Elbow, Hand, Wrist, Hip, Knee, Ankle, and Foot. Evaluation of an ultrasound image to identify normal MSK anatomy of the upper and lower limb will include bone, joint, tendon, ligament, bursa, muscle, nerve, and vessel (artery vs vein).,• Develop the practical skills required to administer ultrasound-guided Injections directed toward peripheral joints, tendons, Bursae, and various musculoskeletal conditions and pathologies.,• Understand relevant theories and principles of ultrasound needle guidance.,• Discuss the safe practice, hygiene, and recognition of potential pitfalls in MSK ultrasound-guided injection techniques.,• Understand the limitations of the use of ultrasound and guidance techniques such as artifacts, safety, and positioning, and develop techniques and strategies to overcome them.,Learning Outcomes:,• Identify ultrasound artifacts and apply optimization techniques.,• Identify the parameters of the safe application of ultrasound in medical diagnosis and clinical context.,• Identify clinical questions and apply ultrasound scanning techniques to determine patient management pathways.,• Recognize and evaluate normal and abnormal MSK anatomy and appearances.,• Recognize and use techniques of MSK ultrasound including dynamic scanning and identification of anisotropy.,• Understand the clinical relevance of pathology and sonographic appearance on management decisions.,• Evaluate safe preparation of equipment and patient including probe hygiene for MSK ultrasound-guided injections,• Identify pitfalls for the techniques and evaluate the implications in clinical practice.,• Perform MSK scanning and MSK ultrasound needle guidance techniques.,Injections:,You will have the opportunity to discuss various injection techniques, such as fenestration and hydrodissection, and the use of various injectable therapies such as PRP and Prolotherapy.,Injections covered include (but are not limited to):,Shoulder:,• Subdeltoid/ Subacromial Bursa,• Long Head of Biceps,• Acromio-clavicular Joint,• Glenohumeral Joint,• Suprascapular Nerve Injection,Elbow:,• CEO/CFO,• Radiohumeral Joint,• Posterior Interosseous Nerve (PIN),Wrist and Hand:,• Wrist,• Carpal Tunnel,• First Compartment,• Injection for trigger finger,• Small Joints, including STT and 1st MCP,Knee:,• Joint Injection,• Pes Anserine,• ITB,Hip:,• Hip Joint Injection,• Lateral hip (Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome),• LFCN,• Posterior Sacro Iliac Complex,Ankle:,• Ankle Joint,• Achilles Tendon,• Small Joints,Foot:,• Achilles Tendon,• Plantar Fascia,• Injection technique for Morton’s Neuroma and Intermetatarsal Bursa
