Overview:
The United States’ nationwide maternal mortality ratio is increasing despite efforts to improve maternal safety. The increase disproportionately affects Black, American Indian, and Native Alaskan people despite efforts to improve equity in healthcare.
Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
• Differentiate the statistics used by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to report maternal death rates.
• State factors contributing to the increase in maternal mortality in the United States.
• Summarize the Pediatrix commitment to support the White House Blueprint for Addressing the Maternal Health Crisis.
