• Understand how cancer emerges from normal host replication process.
• Understand how cancer proliferates, progresses and leads to metastatic diseases.
• Identify conventional agents for various solid tumors (e.g. colon, breast, urologic, and brain cancers).
• Describe how new kinase inhibitors are able to inhibit cancer progression.
• Describe how new anti-angiogenesis agents would prevent the progression of cancer proliferation.
• Understand the types of adverse events that patients may encounter when receiving these types of anti-cancer agents.
• Be able to convey to patients methods to ameliorate these adverse events.

• Explain the antiviral effects associated with high active antiretroviral therapy (HAART).
• Identify and manage possible drug-drug interactions between antiretroviral agents with other therapeutic agents.
• Explain how to manage various adverse effects associated with antiretroviral agents.
